About Malky

Meeting you with warmth, honesty and genuine care

I'm Malky Cutler, a qualified counsellor supporting people through a broad range of life's difficulties — from anxiety, low mood and stress to relationships, loss and finding a clearer sense of direction.

My approach is warm and relational. I believe change happens within a trusting relationship, so my first priority is always to help you feel safe and genuinely heard. From there, we gently explore what's troubling you and find ways forward that fit your life.

Alongside my counselling work, I've spent over thirty years working with children and young people — time that has deepened my patience, my listening, and my belief that everyone deserves to feel genuinely understood.

Whether something specific has brought you here or you simply feel that something isn't quite right, you're welcome exactly as you are.

In my own words

I think one of my main strengths is my ability to build relationships with people and help them feel comfortable and genuinely heard. I'm warm and approachable, but I'm also able to sit with difficult feelings without feeling that I have to rush in and fix things.

I'm quite reflective, and I'm open to thinking about my own practice and using supervision to understand what might be happening in the therapeutic relationship.

I also think my life experience and my previous work with children and families have given me a good understanding of how different pressures can affect people. I try not to make assumptions about somebody just because of the difficulty they present with — I'm interested in understanding the individual person.

And because I'm integratively trained, I can be flexible in the way I work rather than feeling that one approach has to fit everybody.
